The Infinite Garden is a project by Dario Calderone for four musicians and a live soundscape, aiming to encourage a global way of listening through constant communication between different spaces and dimensions. For this release, Aurélie Nyirabikali Lierman, Naomi Sato, Gareth Davis and Dario Calderone have joined forces with the soundscape of the Amstelpark on a cloudy and partially rainy day at the end of January 2025. We kindly thank all the car drivers, pedestrians, birds, raindrops, aeroplanes, radio waves, spirits, trees, bushes, ghosts, subtle minds, earthworms, fallen leaves, moles, audience members, foxes, amphibians, water insects, fungi, memories, dreams, intuitions and meteorological events which have contributed to this recording.

Silence and Sound, Roland Torres

Composed by Dario Calderone (Double bass) and performed alongside three other musicians, Aurélie Nyirabikali (Voice, Shruti Box, Percussion), Gareth Davis (Bass clarinet) and Naomi Sato (Sho), in a space, the Amstelpark, open to passages and external noise, The Infinite Garden is an experience that takes shape amidst the parasitic noises that nourish the musical performance.

We are transported into a moving space with strange instrumental interference, a place of interconnection where the music takes the form of a total entity, alien nourished by rugged surroundings in the form of buzzing textures. The quartet delivers a subtle performance, letting the buzzing and coating resonances take the form of accidental measures filling the long immersion in ambient earth with their unpredictability.

We are struck by the sound production, where each instrument finds its place in the form of waves slowed down by the breath of some and the intention of others. The general atmosphere succumbs to aerial swirls, only to jump through a window open onto a welcoming space with slow drifts towards sensual abstraction. Very highly recommended.
