Jan Kleefstra (born 1964 in Akkrum, Friesland) is a poet/writer and he has published over nine collections of poems, both in Dutch and in Frisian and three books with poetic prose. His work has been published in numerous national and international magazines and websites. He also works together with painters and recently released two books with paintings by Christiaan Kuitwaard and text around the decline of non-human life.

Together with his brother Romke, they performed for a few decades on Dutch and international poetry and music stages (for more info see the page of Romke Kleefstra). In different collaborations, they constantly search for the combination of poetry, music and sometimes video. With their way
of performing and reciting, they create an atmosphere that compares to the space of the land and water in which human beings are only the disturbers. This has led, until now, to more than 30 music and film releases.
