Codespira1 is the Stockholm based composer and producer Mattias Petersson. The moniker was inspired by a documentary about fractals in nature, and was originally conceived as a placeholder for studio performances recorded more or less as one-takes. Since then Codespira1 has also played out at various live events and the concept has been expanded to encompass even longer composition processes. Codespira1’s music is a dirty mixture of broken rhythmics and immersive layers of distorted drones. For the Norbergfestival 2016, Petersson prepares a site-specific performance, adapted to the very special sound environment in Mimerlaven.
As a solo artist, Mattias Petersson has previously released several albums under his own name on labels like iDeal Recordings, Fylkingen Records and Jahr Null Aufnahmen. In June this year he released the first album as Codespira1 called Artefact on the Dutch label Moving Furniture.
